KIPP Renaissance High School Announces Plans For Students To Soar

All incoming 9th Graders are invited to attend SOAR (Student Orientation at KIPP Renaissance) for a week in July before the beginning of the school year.  SOAR is an off-site orientation and leadership retreat for incoming ninth-graders.  To be held on the campus of Southeastern Louisiana University, the summer session will include such highlights as:
 
• Networking with college students and working with current staff and students from KIPP Renaissance
• Sleeping in apartment-style residence halls on campus
• Development of leadership skills necessary for success in high school, college and in life
• Team-building experiences in small- and large-group settings

 
To be divided into small groups of 15, students will work with a KIPP Renaissance teacher, an outside consultant and a current college student over the course of four days.  Learning will be hands-on, interactive, experiential and fun!
 
SOAR will culminate with a dance on the last night and a ‘rite of passage’ ceremony that families will be invited to attend on the final day.
