Andrew Meaders, Algebra 1Mr. Meaders is thrilled to join the KIPP Renaissance team as Algebra I Instructor. Originally from Clinton, Mississippi, Mr. Meaders graduated from the University of Mississippi with a Bachelors degree in English and Political Science. He planned to pursue a law career until his junior year in college, when a trip to Uganda sparked his love for education. After graduating from Ole Miss, Mr. Meaders spent two years teaching math in Canton, Mississippi. In the spring of 2011, he accepted a position as a fellow in the teachNOLA program. Mr. Meaders is eager to work with the KIPP Renaissance family to prepare students for college and inspire them to grab life by the scruff of the neck.

Pete Kohn, Geometry
Mr. Kohn joins the KIPP Renaissance team as a Geometry teacher. While in college, Mr. Kohn gained his first experience working with youth as a volunteer mentor at Mark Twain High School in San Diego, CA.  Upon graduating, Mr. Kohn moved to New Orleans to become a City Year Corps Member. With City Year, Mr. Kohn spent the 2010-2011 school year working as a mentor and math and English tutor for ninth graders at Sarah T. Reed High School. After finishing his commitment to City Year, Mr. Kohn accepted an offer to join TeachNOLA as a teaching fellow. Mr. Kohn is excited to share is passion for education with his students at KIPP Renaissance so that they develop the skills they need to graduate college.

Shannon Stromberg, Algebra 2
Ms. Stromberg joins the Renaissance team as a math teacher. Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, Ms. Stromberg received a degree in Finance from The Ohio State University; however, she soon realized that her real passion was in teaching and coaching. During her time at Ohio State, Ms. Stromberg coached both high school swimming and lacrosse. After college, Ms. Stromberg joined Teach For America in New Orleans where she taught seventh and eighth grade math in Jefferson Parish. Each year, Ms. Stromberg saw tremendous improvements in her students’ LEAP and iLEAP scores. She enjoys connecting math to the real world and encouraging students to take ownership of their education. Ms. Stromberg is thrilled to join the KIPP team and to support her students along the path to and through college.
